The gallery lamps with the tassels are a delight.

What a beautiful FLW house! I was attending the Wright auction in Chicago that evening, the Laurent house was the last item in the sale, so a good three to four hour wait. Before the house lot, Richard Wright (owner) stopped the auction, announced that the Laurent house would be next after a break. He also solicited the quite large crowd (a good 50 plus folks) if there were people in the audience with the intent to bid on the house, represented by an attorney, with a letter of credit, and a contract - to that question, there was no one in the audience. Sale went on break as Wright announced that one couple downstairs had legal representation, the proper documentation and that they (the prospective owners, sellers, and Wright) would go into "private negotiation" re. the house.

After a good 20 minutes, Wright reported back that the house was sold to that party. What a disappointment not to see folks bidding on it, but great that it changed hands. I also recognized later that my architect friend, John Eiffler, would be pivotal in its restoration. I also was at a previous Wright sale where they sold a number of furnishings such as chairs etc... to support the original owner's need re. end of life care. Pictures of the house look great!
