Blog Post: Carpentry Improv in Frank Lloyd Wright's ASB Homes
Wright didn't tell the carpenter exactly how to craft an American System-Built cabinet so often the carpenter improvised. Here is an example: https://elizabethmurphyhouse.com/2022/0 ... asb-homes/

Re: ASBH illustrations
The rendered view drawings which were produced to illustrate the American System-Built Houses product are of interest to Wrightians, to students of the ASBH program, to architectural (and other) delineators and to graphic artists and designers---or should be. More needs to be learned about these wo...

Re: What is the purpose of the milled slot in Frank Lloyd Wright's windows?
For the case of an active casement window, it occurs to me that the milled grooves in the interior faces of the sash’s vertical rails along together with the ones milled into the outer edges of the B-9 jamb stops that align with them may have been conceived to create drainage chutes as capillary ac...

Re: What is the purpose of the milled slot in Frank Lloyd Wright's windows?
Its a guess, but bronze edge strips were typically used for weatherstripping at the time of the systems-built homes. Sometimes referred to as "sprung bronze". the installation process involved bronze strips attached with tiny nails, approx. 1 inch on center, running around either the window jamb or...

Re: Book: "Insufficient Funds: The Financial Life of Frank Lloyd Wright"
A good friend's dad was a fine cheesemaker near Spring Green who supplied - even delivered cheese personally - to Wright despite a stack of bounced checks. Regrettable, the paper trail was lost when the cheese factory closed. Acclaim and reward are two different things.

What is the purpose of the milled slot in Frank Lloyd Wright's windows?
Why is there an invisible slot milled in Frank Lloyd Wright's ASBH window frames? Should we fill it with something, and if so, what? Architects, homeowners, historians and restorers are welcomed to weigh in. Over on the Book of Faces we've heard screen, bead and rope theories. Is this seen on other ...

Re: Video: Top 5 Lost & Found Frank Lloyd Wright Buildings!
What do we know about the McQuillen ASBH ? Nick ? S The McQuillen ASBH is an AA202, sometimes call the "AB Groves House," named for the speculating builder who erected it in 1917. The former owner, Linda McQuillen, told us that it did not initially sell and was a rental for many years. It is not cl...
