Schwartz house is a downsized derivation of Graycliff

The back to back fireplaces at Schwartz are a derivation of the back to back fireplaces in the living / dining areas at Graycliff. Wright explored several orientations for the two fireplaces there but built a configuration with the smaller fireplace at a 45 degree angle to the larger fireplace.

We had a good experience staying in the larger Eppstein house, adjacent to the Pratt house. Hopefully the Pratt house will be available for rental someday,

Should be noted that this house was designed with an intricate roof shingle geometry, the same ridge details first used on the Baker house in 1909, then Taliesin and Graycliff. I was told that the original single pane windows were removed, stored in a shed and replaced with Pella windows by the prior owner. I am not aware of the condition of the fireplaces.

The late owner told me that the floor slab is 9” deep, a structural mat that spans the building. It has sunk on the window wall side of the house due to actions by a prior owner.
